Greco EGF 1200 Super Real - 1980
SOLD
This is a collector quality example of the highly sought EGF 1200 which was produced by Greco as part of the Super Real series between 1980 and 1981. This is one of only four production models that came equipped with the legendary DRY Z pickup, which is considered one of the best PAF reproduction pickups.
I was told by a master luthier with 30+ years experience, who is also an accomplished jazz guitarist, that this particular guitar was the best Les Paul he had ever played. He praised that it sang both plugged and unplugged, its balance, feel and that it basically wanted to play itself.
This model is based on a 1958 Les Paul and has narrow vintage frets, brazilian rosewood fret board and a large 58 profile one piece mahogany neck. As one of the highest grade models Greco offered at the time it is finished in Lacquer, with a unique to this model honey burst top - see my blog linked below to find out what Greco was shooting for with the finish on this guitar.
This guitar is in amazing all original condition including its original case.
I had an early Greco catalog translated that has a full page introducing the EGF-1200. You can check it out on my blog: EGF-1200 Catalog in English
